
Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: Capital city is set to host the Viksit Bharat @2047 and Viksit Odisha @2036 Conference on October 10 at KIIT Campus, bringing together top industry leaders, policymakers, and government officials to deliberate on India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and Odisha’s goal to achieve the same by 2036.
The conference, organized under the chairmanship of Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, former CMD of NALCO, will see participation from over 65 organizations, including 12 Maharatna and Navratna PSUs such as CIL, HAL, BEML, MCL, NCL, SECL, CCL, NMDC, and NTPC. Leading private sector players like Vedanta, JSW, JSPL, Wallet4Wealth, and FACOR will also take part in the deliberation. Prominent figures attending the event include Shri Arun Panda, Chairman, State Finance Commission; Shri P.K. Jena, Chairman, OERC; Shri Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary; Smt. Uma Nanduri, Secretary, Odisha State Pollution Control Board; Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD, NALCO; Shri Sarada Bhushan Mohanty, CMD, IREL; Shri Rahul Sharma, Deputy CEO, Vedanta Group; Shri Barenya Senapati, Director (Finance), HAL; and Mr. Trinath Lenka, Managing Director, Wallet4Wealth.
Focus on Inclusive Development:
According to Dr. Chand, the Viksit Bharat initiative envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not just about macroeconomic growth but about inclusive and sustainable development. “The Indian model of development ensures that progress and prosperity reach every section of society and every part of the country. States like Odisha will play a pioneering role, with the state expected to achieve developed status by 2036—over a decade before India as a whole,” he said.
Industry-Government Synergy:
The conference will feature presentations by government enablers and facilitators such as IDCO, IPICOL, OERC, SPCV, and Skill in Odisha, highlighting ease of doing business, investment opportunities, and policy support. Industry leaders will showcase their contributions to Odisha’s growth and outline future plans in terms of investment, employment generation, value addition, and expansion.
A compendium of expectations and action plans from participating industries will be compiled and presented to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Hon’ble Governor, and forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Empowering Young Professionals:
In a unique format, the conference will include an embedded workshop for middle- and junior-level executives focusing on innovative strategies to enhance productivity and profitability—critical components of the Viksit Bharat mission.
Pledge for Nation Building:
Participants will also take a pledge on “Vocal for Local,” echoing the Prime Minister’s call for self-reliance. Campaigns such as Swachh Bharat, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, and the benefits of GST reforms will be highlighted during the event. The day-long conference will culminate in the recognition of industry leaders and government officials who have significantly contributed to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and Viksit Odisha @2036.
