Workshop on ‘Viksit Bharat 2047 – Viksit Odisha 2036’ Concludes in Bhubaneswar with Strong Industry–Government Commitments

Leaders pledge to promote financial literacy, be Vocal for Local, and drive sustainable, inclusive growth across Odisha and India.

Bhubaneswar, October 10, 2025:
A landmark workshop on “Viksit Bharat 2047 – Viksit Odisha 2036” concluded in Bhubaneswar on Friday, bringing together top policymakers, industry leaders, and academicians to align state and national development goals for a sustainable and inclusive future. Organised by the Viksit Bharat Organising Committee, the event was chaired by Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, Former CMD of NALCO, and co-chaired by Mr. Trinath Lenka, Managing Director of Wallet4Wealth. The workshop witnessed active participation from key government officials, industry representatives, and thought leaders from across sectors.

Financial Empowerment and Growth Vision

Speaking on the vision for a developed India and Odisha, Mr. Trinath Lenka underlined the importance of financial literacy in achieving national growth targets.

“To raise our per capita income from ₹2.05 lakh in 2025 to ₹14.9 lakh by 2047, we must empower citizens through financial education and participation,” Lenka said.

He further cited India’s demographic advantage—with a median age of 31 compared to China’s 39 and Japan’s 50—and projected life expectancy of 84 years by 2047, as key strengths propelling India’s path toward becoming a $30 trillion economy.

Policy Insights and Development Roadmap

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, Chairman, Odisha Finance Commission, stressed the importance of fiscal discipline, balanced regional growth, and resilient governance to meet long-term development goals.

Shri Hemant Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Industries and IP, Government of Odisha, presented an actionable roadmap for Samruddhi Odisha 2036.
He called for increasing the state’s share in national GDP, promoting green industrialisation, and ensuring balanced growth across agriculture, manufacturing, and services.

“We will achieve prosperity without compromising our environment,” Sharma said.

Industry Leaders Announce Major Investments

The workshop saw major industry announcements and commitments aimed at accelerating Odisha’s industrial and economic progress.

Shri Pradipta Kumar Mohanty, Chairman, SNM Group Mines, highlighted the role of sustainable mining and technological innovation in strengthening Odisha’s economy.

Shri Barenya Senapati, Director (Finance) and CFO, HAL, announced HAL’s upcoming expansion at Sunabeda, which will create high-skill employment and boost aerospace capabilities under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Shri Ardhendu Mahapatra, President – Corporate Affairs, Hindalco Industries Ltd., outlined Hindalco’s Odisha-focused growth vision, with 82% of its 28,000 employees being Odia and a proposed ₹50,000 crore investment in skill development, industrial projects, and infrastructure across 15 districts.

Environmental Focus and Policy Support

Mr. Nihar Ranjan Sahoo, Senior Official, Odisha State Pollution Control Board, was commended for enabling industrial growth through an eco-sensitive approach. His address emphasized the need for industries to integrate sustainability into their operational and policy frameworks.

The workshop’s success was credited to the strategic guidance of Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, who conceptualised and led the initiative, and Mr. Trinath Lenka, whose focus on financial empowerment and equitable growth resonated throughout the event.
